A madrassa teacher was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Monday for allegedly raping a minor student. Police identified the accused as Nasir Majeed, a resident of Challer village, who taught at Madrassa Dar-ul-Quran in the Gandoh area.
According to a police spokesperson, authorities acted swiftly after receiving the complaint. “A special team was formed, and the accused was arrested within three hours,” the official said. Majeed had gone into hiding after the alleged crime but was tracked down based on vital leads.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim has undergone a medical examination at Government Medical College, Doda, and legal procedures are underway.
“The investigation is progressing as per the law,” the spokesperson added.
