BSP chief Mayawati has urged the Muslim community to support her party instead of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, saying that only the Bahujan Samaj Party can truly defeat the BJP and its “destructive politics.”

Speaking at a bhaichara meeting in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati said that even though Muslims have been voting in large numbers for the SP, the party has repeatedly failed to stop the BJP. She asked her party workers to reach out more to Muslims and strengthen the BSP’s support base.

“From the 2022 Assembly elections and many earlier polls, it is clear that despite Muslims giving full support—emotionally, physically, and financially—the SP and Congress have not been able to stop the BJP. But the BSP, even with limited Muslim support, succeeded in forming a majority government in 2007,” Mayawati said.

The former chief minister accused both SP and Congress of being “anti-Dalit, anti-backward, and anti-Muslim,” and said their wrong policies had only helped the BJP grow stronger in Uttar Pradesh. “In almost every election, both parties have used manipulation and deceit—not to defeat the BJP, but to harm the BSP. The Muslim community should realise this truth sooner rather than later,” she added.

Mayawati said that when she was in power between 2007 and 2012, her government ensured the real welfare of Muslims by giving them security, justice, and fair representation. “We gave Uttar Pradesh good law and order, protected the lives and property of Muslims, and worked to reduce casteism and communalism,” she said.

She also said that the BSP was the first to take strong action against injustice and lawlessness and worked for the protection of the poor and oppressed. “During our rule, the state was free from riots, exploitation, and fear, while the promises of other parties remained empty words,” she claimed.

Mayawati added that the BSP represents Dalits, tribals, backward classes, Muslims, and other minorities who together form the Bahujan Samaj. “Our mission is to uplift these deprived and neglected communities and help them live with dignity and self-respect, as envisioned in the Constitution,” she said.

The meeting was attended by members of the Muslim Samaj Bhaichara Sangathan, the BSP’s Uttar Pradesh president, all district presidents, and zonal coordinators. They were also informed about the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll.
