In Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh, two young girls, who were allegedly sold by their parents due to extreme poverty, managed to escape after suffering terrible abuse.

According to reports, the two minors, ages 13 and 14, were separately sold to different buyers and later subjected to gang rape by their captors and associates. After escaping their abusers, both girls sought help from their aunts.

The aunt of the 13-year-old told reporters that her niece appeared at her home in Manjhanpur last week after being missing for days. When they tried to return the girl to her parents, they refused to take her back.

“I took her to her parents, but they refused to accept her and said they had sold her to Karmveer Yadav from Etah for ₹5 lakh. We went to the police after that,” the aunt explained, while also claiming the police were slow to act.

The young victim described her ordeal to police: “I fell asleep after dinner as my parents had mixed some intoxicant with my food. The next morning, I woke up and found myself in the house of Yadav in Etah. He and his friends raped me for several days. I somehow ran away from there and reached my aunt’s house.”

Police sources indicate that the girl’s father has admitted to accepting ₹5 lakh (approximately $6,000) for his daughter.

In a similar case two weeks earlier, a 14-year-old girl escaped from Panipat and also sought refuge with her aunt in Kaushambi. Police sources say her parents had sold her to a 50-year-old man named Sandeep Tyagi for ₹3 lakh (approximately $3,600).

Police have registered cases against both the parents and the buyers on charges of human trafficking, abduction, and gang rape. However, no arrests have been made so far.
