Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the two leaders discussed ways to deepen the India–Israel strategic partnership and reiterated their “zero-tolerance stance on terrorism”.

According to an official statement, both leaders expressed satisfaction over the continued momentum of the bilateral partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties for mutual benefit.

Modi also reiterated India’s support for efforts toward a just and durable peace in the Middle East, including the early implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan. Both leaders strongly condemned terrorism in all forms and agreed to remain in touch as developments unfold.

The call came amid ongoing uncertainty over the next phase of the US-backed Gaza ceasefire plan. Netanyahu recently said he expects the second phase to begin “very shortly”, while Hamas has warned that the deal cannot progress unless Israel stops what it calls ongoing violations.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu’s office confirmed that Israel is coordinating with Indian authorities to finalise a new date for his postponed visit. The trip, originally expected in December, was delayed without an official explanation at the time.

Despite reports claiming the postponement was linked to security concerns following a deadly terror attack in New Delhi two weeks ago that killed at least 15 people, Israeli officials dismissed the speculation. They called such reports “misleading and factually incorrect”.

Reiterating the strength of bilateral ties, Netanyahu’s office said on social media that the bond between the two countries remains strong and that the Israeli PM has “full confidence in India’s security under the leadership of PM Modi”.
