In Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district, a 34-year-old pregnant woman was reportedly raped by three men and then set on fire. The victim, who suffered severe burns covering 80 percent of her body, is currently fighting for her life in a hospital in Gwalior.
The incident took place in Chand Ka Pura village, just about 3 kilometres from Ambah town, on Friday. According to Inspector Alok Parihar of Ambah police station, the victim had gone to the village to negotiate a compromise with a woman who had accused her husband of rape. However, instead of finding a resolution, she was allegedly raped by three men who were present at the woman’s house. Later, they, along with the accused woman, poured fuel on her and set her on fire.
A video capturing the victim being rushed to the hospital in a vehicle has surfaced, wherein she can be heard recounting the horrific ordeal of being gang-raped and then set ablaze by the accused woman and the men. The victim’s husband, who is currently out on bail in the rape case involving the same woman, handed over the video to the police.
Inspector Parihar said that although the victim has provided her statement to the magistrate, the police are yet to formally record her statement as part of their ongoing investigations into the matter.
