Several Muslim families linked to the BJP in the Loni area of Ghaziabad celebrated Eid-ul-Adha differently this year, cutting goat-shaped cakes instead of performing animal sacrifice. The move came after an appeal by BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar, who urged people to celebrate an “eco-friendly Eid.”

Videos from different parts of Loni appeared on social media, showing families cutting cakes shaped like goats or decorated with goat images while celebrating the festival together. Residents said the initiative aimed to spread awareness about environmental protection and communal harmony.

Residents Support ‘Eco-Friendly Eid’ Initiative

Local residents including Khalid, Chand, Arbaz, Kamruddin Ansari, Haji Liaqat and Haji Babu welcomed the MLA’s appeal and said protecting the environment and maintaining peace in society were everyone’s responsibility.

“Change with time is necessary and such initiatives help maintain love, brotherhood and social harmony,” some residents said.

One video showed an elderly member of a Muslim family cutting a goat-shaped cake and saying they had followed the MLA’s request by celebrating Eid-ul-Adha in that manner. Several other residents were also seen sharing similar cakes with family members and neighbours.

Nand Kishore Gurjar Calls Initiative ‘Historic’

BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar congratulated members of the Muslim community in Loni and described the celebration as “historic and exemplary.”

“The message of eco-friendly Eid will inspire not only Loni but the entire society,” Gurjar said. “Festivals symbolise peace, love and brotherhood.”

In a video statement, Gurjar claimed that some Muslims in Loni had been celebrating Eid in an eco-friendly way for the past few years by cutting goat-shaped cakes.

“This message will go not only across Uttar Pradesh and the country, but the whole world,” he said, while also linking animal slaughter to pollution and health concerns.

Videos of Cake-Cutting Celebration Go Viral

Social media videos from Loni showed Muslim families celebrating Eid-ul-Adha by cutting goat-shaped cakes and eating them together. In some clips, residents said they had decided to avoid animal sacrifice and instead celebrate the festival in a symbolic way.
