A group of Muslim students travelling from Hyderabad to Uttar Pradesh for examinations at Darul Uloom Deoband were allegedly harassed at Delhi railway station on March 26, 2026. The incident was recorded by one of the students and quickly circulated on social media.

In the video, the students, identifiable by their beards, skullcaps, and traditional attire, can be seen standing quietly on the platform. A saffron-clad man approaches them aggressively, issuing threats in Hindi, saying, “Ay, gay ka hatya karo mat, ay gay ka hatya karo mat. Naito tera hatya karenge,” which translates to “Don’t kill a cow, don’t kill a cow. Or else we will kill you.”

Student Speaks Out on Provocation

The student who shared the footage described the encounter as “identity-based provocation.” He explained that the group posed no threat and was simply waiting for their connecting train. “He was trying to provoke us into reacting so that we could be sent to jail,” the student said.

He urged fellow students travelling from Hyderabad or other states to remain alert while on the journey. “Some people may try to mislead or provoke you, especially targeting Muslims based on appearance, like wearing a kurta-pyjama. Take care of yourselves and do not engage,” he advised.

Appeal to Students Travelling for Exams

The student further appealed to aspirants heading to Darul Uloom Deoband for exams to stay vigilant yet composed. “They want you to react in anger and get into a fight. Walk away calmly without responding to miscreants,” he said.

Darul Uloom Deoband, located in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, is one of India’s oldest and most respected institutions for traditional Islamic education. Thousands of students from across the country and abroad travel annually to appear for its examinations.
