Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday accused the ruling Trinamool Congress and other parties of using Muslims as a vote bank without ensuring their development in West Bengal.

Addressing an election rally in Naowda, Owaisi said that for decades, the Muslim community has supported parties like the Congress, the Left Front, and the TMC, but their socio-economic condition has not improved.

“In the past 50 years, Muslims have voted for Congress, Left Front and TMC, but what has changed for them?” he asked.

Alliance with AJUP to challenge TMC

Owaisi announced his party’s support for candidates of the All India United Progressive Front led by Humayun Kabir, saying the alliance aims to strengthen Muslim political representation.

“For the sake of Muslims in West Bengal getting greater representation in decision-making and for their true development, we have joined hands with Kabir,” he said.

He added, “Together, we will give a jolt to Mamata Banerjee and her party.”

Calls for community leadership and development

Owaisi urged voters to elect leaders from within the Muslim community who, he said, could better address their concerns.

“The time has come to elect leaders from the Muslim community who can ensure your economic development,” he said.

West Bengal elections schedule
