On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adampur Air Base and met with the Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel. During his visit, he was briefed by Air Force officials and interacted with the jawans stationed there.

In a tweet, PM Modi called the meeting “a special experience” and expressed profound gratitude towards the armed forces for their service to the nation. “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination, and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation,” PM Modi wrote.

Adampur Air Base holds strategic importance, and it was one of the key military locations targeted by the Pakistani military during the recent escalation. Pakistan launched an attack on several key military sites, including Adampur, Bhatinda, and Chandigarh, following India’s Operation Sindoor on May 7.

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including 25 tourists and a Nepali national. This attack is considered the deadliest in Kashmir since the Pulwama bombing in 2019.

After several days of confrontation along the Line of Control (LoC), both India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on May 10. While military operations ceased, India made it clear that there would be no diplomatic engagement with Islamabad at this stage.
