Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra condemned the killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza, calling it a “cold-blooded murder” and “another heinous crime committed on Palestinian soil.” She praised the journalists’ courage, saying their bravery in standing for the truth will never be broken by the violence and hatred of the Israeli state.
Anas al-Sharif, an Al Jazeera journalist, along with four colleagues, was killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a tent housing journalists in Gaza City.
In a post on X, Priyanka Gandhi said, “In a world where much of the media is enslaved to power and commerce, these brave souls reminded us of what true journalism is. May they rest in peace.”
She has been vocal against Israel’s actions in Gaza and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The UN human rights office also condemned the airstrike on the journalists’ tent, calling it a grave breach of international humanitarian law.
