Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may not remain in office within the next one year. He claimed that the political and administrative system that once supported the Prime Minister is now weakening from within.

Speaking at an event organised by the Adivasi Congress at Indira Bhawan, Rahul Gandhi said, “In my assessment, Modiji will not be the prime minister in a year’s time.”

He added that the country is moving towards major economic and institutional changes, which he described as both a “crisis” and a “systemic collapse”.

Warning of “Economic Tsunami” in India

Rahul Gandhi said India is heading towards a severe economic crisis, which he referred to as an “economic tsunami”. He claimed that rising prices and policy changes would heavily impact citizens.

“This is just the beginning. India will witness such an economic crisis that you have never experienced in your lives. This is happening and no one can stop it,” he said.

He further alleged that the government has removed economic safeguards that earlier protected India from global financial shocks.

Claims of Institutional Pressure and Internal Revolt

The Congress leader also alleged that India’s institutional systems are under pressure and are beginning to “revolt” internally.

He said, “On the other hand, there is an institutional revolt happening within India’s system… the Election Commission is fully controlled.”

Rahul Gandhi further claimed that he is receiving information from different institutional sources. “The system that once controlled everything is now shaken and information is coming to us,” he said.

He also alleged that even senior officials, including the Chief Election Commissioner, intelligence heads, and members of the judiciary, are sharing information with him.

Warning of Emergency-Like Situation

Rahul Gandhi warned that if public pressure increases due to economic distress and concerns over electoral systems, the government may attempt to suppress dissent.

“What may happen is that they may try to suppress public pressure and impose something like an Emergency. That is possible,” he said.

He added that institutional control is weakening and the government is losing its grip on power.

Allegations Against Prime Minister and Government

Rahul Gandhi also claimed that the system is now providing him with information about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior leaders.

“When I meet Modiji, I have so much information on him that he knows that I know. The system he once controlled is now shaken,” he said.

He concluded by saying that growing public pressure and internal institutional changes are reshaping India’s political landscape.
