Rajasthan: Muslim Principal held for deleting Ganesh Chaturthi post from School's WhatsApp group

Shafi Mohammed Ansari, the principal of a government senior higher secondary school at Laturi village in Kota got arrested on Sunday for allegedly deleting Ganesh Chaturthi greetings post from the school’s WhatsApp group namely “School Management Development Committee” or “SMDC”  parents and teachers were also part of the group. 

After this, some villagers gathered outside the school, held demonstrations against the principal and demanded his removal.

He was booked and later arrested under section 127 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), for disturbing communal harmony, Uttam Singh, the SHO at Bapawar Police Station  told the media.

He also mentioned that he was granted bail and released later in the evening.

Around two hours later, a school teacher also uploaded a Ganesh Chaturthi greeting in the same group and Ansari allegedly deleted the post again, the officer said.

It was noted that the situation in the village remained calm and peaceful.
