Rajasthan Police Ask Two British Tourists to Leave India Over Pro-Palestine Posters

Two British Tourists Told to Leave India for Pro-Palestine Posters

The Rajasthan Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has issued notices to two British nationals, asking them to leave India, after they were found pasting posters with slogans protesting Israel’s military actions in Gaza, according to PTI. The posters reportedly included messages such as “Free Palestine, Boycott Israel.”

The two individuals were in India on tourist visas. CID officials said their actions violated visa conditions, which prohibit foreigners from engaging in political activities while in the country. Additional Superintendent of Police (CID) Rajesh Meena said, “Engaging in activities that show disrespect towards other countries while staying in India breaches visa norms.”

The notices were issued under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, directing the two to leave India. The posters were removed from public areas, and police conducted checks in locations frequented by foreign tourists to prevent similar incidents. Pushkar, a popular tourist destination, was one of the locations where the posters were put up.

The action comes amid widespread global protests over Israel’s war in Gaza, which has killed more than 71,000 Palestinians, including over 500 people since a US-brokered ceasefire in October last year. Reports indicate that more than half of the casualties are women and children, and the conflict has also affected journalists and healthcare workers. Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
