Saudi Arabia aims to have 15 million pilgrims for Umrah, Next Year

Saudi Arabia plans to welcome 15 million Muslims to perform Umrah or minor pilgrimage next year as part of ambitious efforts to increase the numbers of the faithful flocking to Islam’s two holiest sites in the kingdom, a government programmed has disclosed.

The Guests of God Service Programme said the plan is based on expanding infrastructure and the use of state-of-the art technology including digitalizing the services provided for the pilgrims.

As per its official website, the primary strategic goal is to increase the number of people coming from abroad to perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque.

The Program has digitized and streamlined services along all points of a pilgrimage, from e-visas made available to foreign pilgrims to the launch of the Haramain high-speed train that makes transport between Jeddah Airport and the Holy Sites easy and convenient.

Not only does the Program work to ensure seamless logistics, it takes great pride in providing an immersive cultural experience.

Initiatives that restore and develop historic Islamic sites play an important role in the pilgrim’s spiritual journey by enabling them to visit and enjoy places of great.
