Seven Booked in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri for Hoisting Palestinian Flag on School Building

Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district have booked seven people for allegedly hoisting a Palestinian flag on a government school building, officials said on Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday at an upper primary school in Lakhaha Aliganj village. According to police, three men identified as Saddam, Baura and Ananne, along with four others, allegedly raised the flag on the school building.

“When some villagers objected, the accused abused and threatened them,” an official said.

A complaint was lodged by local resident Sanjay Trivedi at the Phoolbehar police station. Based on his statement, police registered a case under sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to promoting enmity, intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace, and criminal intimidation.

“The matter is being investigated,” the official added.
