A Srinagar youth was run over by a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle on Saturday afternoon in the Baghat Chowk area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

The victim, identified by locals as Manzoor Ahmad Wani, a resident of Budgam, was riding his two-wheeler (JK01 AM 4913), when he hit by a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle, according to The Kashmiriyat, a regional news website.

The impact was so severe that Wani succumbed to his injuries on the spot, despite the immediate assistance provided by the locals who rushed to the scene.

Sauleh Shafi, another resident of Budgam, was also injured in the incident and rushed to the hospital where his condition is reported to be stable but critical.

Photographs of the event have also been shared on social media, showing a grim picture of the incident. One image shows the vehicle crushed under the CRPF vehicle’s rear tyres.

After the incident, protests and stone-pelting started in Srinagar’s Bhagat area.

The police have said that they are investigating the matter.
