A pigeon was caught under suspicious circumstances in a forward village near the Line of Control in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu on Saturday.

Officials said the pale grey pigeon, which had two black stripes on each wing, was found carrying red and yellow rings on its legs. The rings were marked with the words ‘Rehmat Sarkar’ and ‘Rizwan 2025’ along with some numbers. The pigeon was caught in Kharah village by a 13-year-old boy named Aryan earlier in the day.

According to officials, stamps were also found on the wings of the pigeon, raising suspicion. After the bird was caught, it was handed over to the Pallanwala police station for further examination.
