In north Kashmir, three militants were killed in an encounter in the Chak Tappar area of Pattan, Baramulla district, on Saturday, according to officials.

The encounter began late last night when a joint team comprising the Army’s 29 RR (Rashtriya Rifles), CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon-and-search operation in Chak Tappar village based on credible intelligence about militant activity in the area.

As the forces moved in on the suspected location, the militants, who were hiding inside a school building, opened fire, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire. The search operation is still ongoing, with the militants being confined to the school building.

The official report confirmed that two more unidentified militants were killed during the encounter, bringing the total number of slain militants to three. Further details on the operation and the identity of the militants are awaited as the search continues.
