Tribal Woman Paraded Naked in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh; Outrage and Swift Action Demanded

A horrifying incident in which a woman was paraded naked in Nichalkota village of Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district has sent shockwaves across the nation. The incident came to light after a video of the harrowing act went viral on social media, prompting outrage and swift action demands.

Both the victim and the accused in this disturbing case belong to the tribal community, as confirmed by local officials. The accused individuals include the victim’s former father-in-law and members of his family.

Upon learning of the incident, law enforcement authorities sprang into action. The Superintendent of Police (SP), Amit Kumar, along with the Deputy SP and other police officers, immediately reached the scene. An FIR has been registered, and six teams have been formed to apprehend the accused.

The state government has taken cognizance of the situation and has instructed the Director General of Police (DGP), Umesh Mishra, and ADG Crime, Dinesh M.N., to visit Pratapgarh and ensure swift action in the case. The DGP has ordered the immediate arrest of the accused.

Reacting to the disturbing incident, Deputy Leader of Opposition Satish Poonia expressed his shock, saying, “Soul trembles after watching the video of misbehavior with a tribal woman in Pratapgarh. The morale of the criminals is so high that they are openly making videos of the crime.” Poonia urged the state government to impose severe penalties on the culprits to deter such crimes.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has condemned the incident and demanded prompt action. In a tweet, the NCW stated, “NCW vehemently condemns the harrowing incident in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan. A woman was molested, stripped, and recorded on video. Despite it happening two days ago, police inaction is unacceptable.”

NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma instructed the state’s DGP to promptly arrest the culprits and invoke necessary IPC provisions. The NCW has also demanded a comprehensive report within five days.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has pledged to ensure that the culprits face justice swiftly. He stated, “There is no place for such criminals in a civilized society. These criminals will be put behind bars as soon as possible and will be tried and punished in the fast track court.” Gehlot also ordered the deployment of ADG Crime to the scene and urged for the strictest action in the matter.

DGP Umesh Mishra has provided details of the investigation, stating that ten individuals have been named in the case of misbehavior with the woman in Pratapgarh. Eight of them, including the main accused, have been detained. The victim has lodged a complaint against her husband, Kanha Gameti, along with Suraj, Veniya, Netiya, Nathu, and Mahendra for forcibly taking her on a motorcycle and parading her naked outside her husband’s house.

The main accused, Kanha Netian, Beniya, and Pintu, along with a child molester and bystanders Punia, Khetiya, Motilal, and others have been detained, according to DGP Mishra. The case will now proceed to a fast-track court for a swift trial and justice for the victim.
