US Lawmakers Demand Trump’s Removal, Cite 25th Amendment Over Iran Threats

Donald Trump says Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire after diplomatic talks aimed at reducing tensions.

US lawmakers have raised serious concerns about President Donald Trump and are calling for the invocation of the 25th Amendment. They argue that his recent statements and actions in the ongoing conflict with Iran show that he may not be fit to carry out his duties.

The 25th Amendment allows for the removal of a president who is unable or unwilling to perform the responsibilities of office. Section four permits the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president incapable, temporarily transferring power to the vice president. While sections one through three have been used for voluntary transfers or succession, section four has never been applied.

Trump’s Threats to Iran Spark Alarm

The controversy intensified after Trump posted a warning to Iran on his social media platform TruthSocial threatening attacks on bridges and power plants. “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day all wrapped up in one in Iran. There will be nothing like it. Open the F**kin’ Strait you crazy bastards or you will be living in Hell JUST WATCH Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J TRUMP,” he wrote.

The posts alarmed lawmakers, foreign governments, and analysts, raising fears of further violence and civilian casualties. Iran responded with strong warnings and accused the United States of endangering the region.

Lawmakers Speak Out

Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari called the president’s actions reckless. “Trump is escalating a devastating illegal war targeting civilian infrastructure in Iran. In the last 48 hours alone the rhetoric has crossed every line,” she said.

Rep. Ilhan Omar also urged immediate action. “This is not okay. Invoke the 25th Amendment. Impeach. Remove. This unhinged lunatic must be removed from office,” she said.

Some former allies and Republicans have also expressed concern. Former congressman Joe Walsh said, “His Easter morning posts show he has gone insane. The 25th Amendment should be considered now.” Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci added, “Our Founders created the 25th Amendment for situations exactly like this to remove a madman from the presidency.”

Understanding the 25th Amendment

The 25th Amendment was ratified in 1967 after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Sections one and two cover vacancies caused by death or resignation, while section three allows a president to temporarily transfer power voluntarily. Section four allows involuntary removal if the president is deemed unable to fulfill duties.

Experts say invoking section four would require agreement from the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet. Congress may also play a role. While unprecedented, the amendment exists to prevent a president from causing extreme harm to the country or the world.

Conflict With Iran Escalates

Calls for Trump’s removal come as violence in the Middle East rises. US-Israeli strikes in Iran have reportedly killed at least 15 people and targeted energy infrastructure. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil route, has faced threats, causing global concern.

Iranian officials warned that aggressive US actions could provoke severe retaliation. Gen. Hossein Yekta of the Revolutionary Guard even encouraged citizens, including minors, to man checkpoints, raising international alarm.

Global and Domestic Concerns

The United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries criticized Iran but expressed concern about escalation. Analysts warned that a wider war could affect global energy markets and trade routes.

In the United States, lawmakers and political observers are watching closely. Some fear that congressional efforts to limit Trump through war powers resolutions may fail if the administration continues unilateral actions.

Uncertainty Remains

Despite growing calls from lawmakers and international leaders, the White House has not responded. Critics say the president’s unpredictable behavior and threats to civilian targets make the situation dangerous.

“The 25th Amendment exists for a reason. The President of the United States is a national security threat to our country and the rest of the world,” said Rep. Ansari.
