A Dalit woman and her family were reportedly assaulted in Bhiti Rawat village, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, following a dispute over firecrackers on Friday night. The incident has sparked tension and anger across the village.
According to reports, the victim, Sanjana Bharti, wife of Manoj Kumar, was at home when youths from the opposing side began bursting firecrackers in front of her house. When she protested, the accused allegedly became enraged and climbed onto her door. Her brother, hearing the commotion, came out to intervene, after which the accused reportedly used caste-based slurs and physically attacked both Sanjana and her brother.
Sanjana Bharti immediately lodged a complaint at Sahjanwa police station. Following her report, police registered a case against four individuals: Dharmendra Pal, Chhotai Pal, Santosh Pal, and Anshu Pal. The station in-charge confirmed that an investigation has begun, with continuous raids underway to apprehend the accused, and assured that strict legal action would be taken.
