A 55 year old tantrik was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district for allegedly raping a 13 year old girl who had been brought to him for faith healing, police said on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Parshuram Yadav, is a resident of Itara Milauli village. He was arrested near Pawari village on Friday evening, according to Baberu Circle Officer Krishnakant Tripathi.
Girl Taken for Faith Healing
According to police, the girl’s mother, who is from the Naraini area, had taken her 13 year old daughter to Yadav around two days before the arrest for faith healing as the girl was unwell.
The tantrik allegedly sexually assaulted the girl during the visit, police said.
Following the allegation, an FIR was registered at the Bisanda police station against Yadav.
Girl Sent for Medical Examination
Police said the girl has been sent to a hospital for a medical examination.
Further legal proceedings against the accused are underway, Circle Officer Krishnakant Tripathi said.
