In Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, two Muslim shop employees who subleased the general store suffered harassment by far-right supporters.
In a video going viral, the two men are surrounded by people, constantly heckling them for a poster installed in the shop. The poster represents the name of the general store (Aman General Store) with images of the Hindu God and Goddess.
A woman named Radha can be seen, stating how the idea of the shop being run by two Muslim men with a Hindu religion poster and name goes against the sentiments of the Sanatan Dharm.
Radha, leading the group, is constantly heckling the two men. She and the members keep on asking for the contact number of the owner of the shop, who happens to be a Hindu and has sub-leased the shop to the two Muslim men.
“If the shop is being run by Muslims, then the name of the shop needs to be changed”, says Radha
The group can be seen asking various questions regarding the agreement’s papers, payment barcode, and whether the two men are owners or employees of the shop.
“Why does the barcode show the name Saqib as the payment receiver, if it’s not his shop?” says one of the group members.
Suddenly, a man in a red jacket gets aggressive and shouts at one of the shop owners, wherein the second owner intervenes.
“Dharm ke naam par roti paka rahe hein”, says an unknown man in the group, alleging how the two men are earning by misusing the name of Hindu Gods.
The group then removed the poster, and the small mandir installed in the shop and started chanting “Jai Shree Ram”.
During the process of removing the poster, Radha cautions the two men of dire consequences if she again observes the alleged misuse of Hindu Gods or expressions of Sanatan dharm to run their shop.
