A 13-year-old Muslim boy was seriously injured in an assault by a group of minors in the Sarsaul area of the Maharajpur police circle in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred when the boy refused to chant the slogan “Jai Sri Ram” as demanded by the group.
According to reports, three minors first asked the boy to bow down and touch their feet. When he refused, they demanded he chant the religious slogan. When the boy continued to decline, the accused allegedly broke a glass bottle and used a piece of it to stab him in the thigh. The boy sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
An FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by the boy’s grandfather, with the police initiating an investigation into the incident.
