A 16-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped by three men at her home in Hyderabad’s Nandanavanam Colony on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday in the Colony under the limits of Meerpet Police Station of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, IANS reported.
After threatening the victim’s brother and three other children, the accused barged into her home and sexually assaulted her at knifepoint.
According to the report, a group of eight youths barged into the house, citing a police complaint filed by the victim.
Four of the accused escorted the victim to the third floor of the building, while the remaining four threatened her brother and three other children present.
Three of the four accused who had taken the victim upstairs raped her in turn. They ran away when the girl cried out for help.
The police opened an investigation and took the victim to the Sakhi Centre for medical examination. To apprehend the accused, police have formed seven teams. They were reviewing CCTV footage in order to identify the perpetrators.
D S Chauhan, the Rachakonda Police Commissioner, visited the crime scene as well as the Meerpet Police Station. Four suspects in the case were being questioned by Meerpet police.
The accused were said to be high on Ganja. There were a couple of rowdy sheeters among them.
The victim, a Dalit, works at a garment shop in Dilsukhnagar, and her younger brother works as a flexi installer. They had moved to the colony and were staying with a relative after losing their parents a few months ago.
