A 17-year-old girl, identified as Muskaan Khan Sharma, died under suspicious circumstances in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district, with her family accusing her husband of murder. The incident took place on Tuesday night in Mangadpura village under the Dehat police station area.
Police have taken the body into custody and conducted a post-mortem examination through a panel of doctors on Wednesday. An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.
According to Muskaan’s family, she had married 35-year-old Abhishek Sharma, a resident of Ghasipura under Amayan police station limits, around three months ago. The marriage was reportedly a love marriage and took place at the Ardhanareshwar temple near Gauri Sarovar.
Allegations of Domestic Violence
Family members alleged that problems began soon after the marriage, claiming Muskaan was subjected to physical abuse by her husband.
Her mother, Sitara Khan, reportedly brought Muskaan back to her maternal home nearly a month ago after learning about disputes and alleged violence in the marriage.
The family claimed that tensions between the couple continued even after Muskaan returned to her mother’s house.
Family Claims Husband Arrived Armed
According to allegations made by Muskaan’s relatives, Abhishek Sharma arrived at his in-laws’ house in Mangadpura on Tuesday night carrying a pistol and asked Muskaan to come outside.
The family alleged that he then assaulted her and used her dupatta to allegedly strangulate her near an e-rickshaw parked at the house.
Muskaan’s brother, Gulfan Khan, who was reportedly present at the scene, claimed he was threatened with a weapon and was unable to intervene.
The family further alleged that the accused left the scene after the incident and warned them against informing anyone.
Police Begin Investigation
Muskaan’s mother reportedly found her daughter unconscious near the e-rickshaw after returning home some time later. The family alerted emergency services, following which Dial-112 personnel and local police reached the spot.
Muskaan was taken for medical examination, but she could not be saved.
Police said they are investigating the allegations and awaiting the post-mortem report to establish the exact cause of death. Officials have stated that legal action will be taken based on evidence gathered during the investigation.
