In the Union Budget for 2025-26, the Union Government has proposed an allocation of Rs 41,000.07 crore for the Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) Union Territory. This allocation, announced on Saturday by the Union Finance Ministry, remains unchanged from the previous fiscal year, showing no increase in central assistance for the region.

Of the total Rs 41,000.07 crore allocated to J&K, a significant portion, Rs 40,619.30 crore, has been earmarked as central assistance. This funding aims to bridge the resource gap faced by the Union Territory. The budget also includes additional funds for specific purposes: Rs 279 crore has been proposed for contribution to the Union Territory Disaster Response Fund, and Rs 101.77 crore is allocated for funding the resource gap in infrastructure projects.

For the ongoing fiscal year, the financial assistance to J&K has been revised to Rs 41,000.07 crore, down from Rs 42,277.74 crore, as per the latest budget documents available with Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
