Maharashtra’s Minister of Fisheries and Ports Development, Nitesh Rane, has written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding a complete ban on the Muslim organization “Ijtema Jamat.” Rane has urged that the organization be declared a “terrorist group” following alleged inflammatory speeches at a recent event in Kharghar.

Speaking about the incident, Rane stated, “I have demanded that the organization named ‘Ijtema Jamat’ be declared a terrorist organization. Are there different groups under this name? After the inflammatory speeches at their event in Khargar, Hindus were targeted, leading to the death of a young Hindu.”

Citing concerns over public safety, the minister requested that all branches of the organization be banned and prohibited from holding future events in Maharashtra. “Additionally, I have requested an inquiry into the Khargar event to identify those responsible,” Rane added.

The state government has yet to issue a formal response to the minister’s demands. The call for a ban has sparked discussions about communal harmony and the role of religious gatherings in Maharashtra.
