A teacher at a prestigious school in Chennai has been suspended for allegedly beating a third-grade student after he failed to recite a Hindi poem. The school management informed on Monday that the decision to suspend the teacher was made following an investigation conducted on February 21.

A school official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said, “We learned about this issue on February 23. After the investigation, it was found that the teacher had beaten the student, which led to her suspension.” However, the official also noted that the matter was mainly between the student’s parents and the teacher.

After the incident, the student’s parents lodged a complaint with the school management. The school, named Bhavan Rajaji Vidyalayam, is a CBSE institution known for its zero-tolerance policy towards violence. The actions taken against the teacher align with the school’s guidelines, which strictly prohibit any form of physical, verbal, or mental abuse.

The school has a strict policy against any physical punishment for students.

CBSE schools have stringent guidelines for teachers, advising them to handle students with sensitivity and tolerance. If a teacher violates these rules, disciplinary action is taken.
