Nagpur Violence Accused Fahim Khan’s House Demolished Over ‘Unauthorised Construction’

Nagpur Violence Accused Fahim Khans House Demolished Over ‘Unauthorised Construction Fahim Khan,Nagpur

Amid tight security, civic authorities in Nagpur demolished the house of Fahim Khan, an accused in the March 17 violence, on Monday morning (March 24, 2025). Officials cited unauthorised construction as the reason for the demolition.

Khan, a leader of the Minority Democratic Party (MDP), has been booked for sedition and is among over 100 people arrested in connection with the clashes. The violence erupted after Muslims alleged that a sheet containing verses from the Quran was burned during protests by Hindutva groups against Emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb.

A notice was issued to Khan a few days ago by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, stating that his house lacked necessary approvals. Around 10:30 a.m., three JCB machines arrived at Sanjay Bagh Colony in Yashodhara Nagar, where the demolition took place under drone surveillance and heavy police deployment.

Authorities have previously taken similar actions against accused individuals in communal violence cases, raising concerns about selective enforcement.
