A deadly terror attack took place today at Baisaran, near Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, leaving 27 people dead and several others critically injured. The majority of the victims were tourists, mostly non-locals, who were visiting the scenic region.

Reports from Kashmir Dot Com confirm that the attack targeted a group of tourists, many of whom hailed from different parts of India, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha. Among the deceased is Shalinder Kalpiya, while many others are receiving treatment for serious injuries.

In response to the incident, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Srinagar to personally oversee the security situation and the response to the attack. He will be meeting with senior officials and security agencies to review the ongoing efforts to apprehend those responsible for the assault and to ensure justice is served.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “cowardly assault on innocent civilians.” Modi instructed the Home Minister to take swift and decisive action.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow, offering his condolences to the victims’ families. He called the targeting of innocent tourists an “unforgivable crime” and assured the public that the authorities would ensure those responsible would face justice swiftly.

Forces have launched an extensive combing operation in the surrounding forest areas to locate the attackers. High-level administrative and security officials have already arrived at the site to monitor the situation.

This attack has deeply shaken the tourism industry in Kashmir, which had seen an uptick in visitors in recent months. The tragic event has raised serious concerns about the safety of tourists, potentially affecting future tourism in the region.
