Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, president of the Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board, announced that madrasas in the state will begin teaching students about Operation Sindoor, the recent military action taken by India against Pakistan.

Qasmi said the decision came after a Muslim community delegation met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and expressed support for the operation. The delegation also conveyed its solidarity to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the country comes before all else.

“We are including Operation Sindoor in the syllabus as the country is paramount,” Qasmi told ANI. “We don’t believe in the two-nation theory. We don’t differentiate between Hindus and Muslims.”

According to Qasmi, the new curriculum will begin from 2025 across madrasas in Uttarakhand.

Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7, following an attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that killed 26 civilians. The military operation targeted “terror infrastructure in Pakistan”.

Following the strikes, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on May 10.

The Indian government has also announced plans to send a delegation of Members of Parliament from different parties to foreign countries to brief them about the details and intent of Operation Sindoor.
