RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat met with more than 60 Muslim clerics and scholars on Thursday in a meeting aimed at fostering understanding and encouraging dialogue between Hindus and Muslims. The meeting was organised by the All India Imam Organisation and held at Haryana Bhawan in the capital.

According to Umer Ahmed Iliyasi, the head of the All India Imam Organisation, the meeting lasted nearly three and a half hours and included imams, muftis, and heads of madrasas from across the country.

“It was a free and open conversation on national issues,” Iliyasi told reporters. “We agreed that there should be dialogue between mandirs and masjids, imams and pujaris, gurukuls and madrasas. Mohan Bhagwat appreciated this idea.”

Iliyasi said the atmosphere was constructive and respectful. “Dialogue is the only way to solve problems. It clears misunderstandings, ends hatred, and builds trust.”

Bhagwat was accompanied by senior RSS leaders, including Krishan Gopal and Indresh Kumar. The RSS said the discussion was part of its ongoing effort to engage with different communities.

“This is a continuous process of holding dialogue with all sections of society,” said Sunil Ambekar, head of the RSS media department. “Today’s discussion was positive. The main goal is to find ways we can work together for the country’s progress.”

Iliyasi confirmed that both the All India Imam Organisation and the RSS agreed to move forward together in building bridges between communities.
