In Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim truck driver was beaten to death by a mob of Kanwariyas after they suspected him of carrying cattle remains. The incident happened in Patna Devkali on Badaun Road, under the Thana Kalan police station area, during the Kanwar Yatra procession.

According to reports, the Kanwariyas stopped the truck after noticing a foul smell. Inside, they found animal skins and assumed they were cattle remains. Without confirming the facts, they attacked the driver. Even after police arrived, the assault continued.

Witnesses say the officers stood by while the mob beat the man and set his truck on fire. The vehicle was reduced to ashes as stones were thrown, and no effort was made to stop the violence.

Videos circulating online show the police watching as the attack unfolded.

A local Muslim leader said, “This is not an isolated case. Muslims are being targeted without proof. The driver lost his life because of blind hatred and suspicion. The police must answer for their silence.”

An eyewitness recalled, “The police were right there, but they did nothing while he was attacked. When police don’t act, it gives mobs the courage to break the law.”
