Tension gripped Puranapul Darwaza in Hyderabad last night after an unidentified group vandalized a temple, sparking concern among local residents. Police said the damage was discovered late in the evening, prompting authorities to rush to the site. A crowd of locals gathered, expressing anger over the incident, but the police quickly brought the situation under control.

Senior officials assured residents that strict action would be taken and supervised the restoration of the damaged idol. Additional forces were deployed in and around Puranapul to prevent further disturbances.

This morning, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi visited the area, reviewed the situation, and spoke with residents and police officials. He urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities. “Peace must be maintained. The police are handling the matter,” Owaisi said.

Police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible for the vandalism. Officials also urged people not to believe or spread rumors, saying the situation is under control.

The incident quickly became political, with the BJP blaming the Congress government for failing to maintain law and order. Telangana BJP posted on X that the “deity of Goddess and Shivaji dhwaj were desecrated in Puranapul, Hyderabad,” claiming an organized attack on Hindu temples in the state.

Telangana BJP chief N Ramachander Rao also visited the site and echoed the party’s criticism. “Extremists have taken over Telangana with the Congress government in deep sleep. They know Congress can never act against its vote bank, hence the temple desecration spree,” he said, adding that the BJP would “stand resolutely and fight to safeguard our temples.”
