Muslim Truck Driver Lynched to Death in Bihar’s Saran Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha

In Bihar’s Saran district, a truck driver named Zahiruddin, aged 55 and hailing from Majhwalia village, was subjected to a mob lynching late on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred after the mob discovered that the truck was transporting animal bones to a factory, according to the police.

Zahiruddin was en route to the Nagara bone dust factory located in the district when the truck experienced a mechanical issue near Khori Pakad village, under the jurisdiction of Jalalpur police station.

Zahiruddin, his assistant, and a few labourers attempted to fix the problem. However, during this time, a mob formed and subsequently lynched Zahiruddin.

“At the same time, some local residents assembled there and asked them about the materials laden on the truck. When they replied that the bones of animals are in the truck and it is going to the factory in Nagara, they started beating them,” Haider, the owner of the bone factory told IANS.

“While the helper and other labourers managed to flee from the spot, Jaharuddin failed as he was having an iron rod installed in his leg and was unable to run. The mob brutally beat him until he died on the spot. The local police of Jalalpur also reached the spot but they did not intervene in the matter. The violent mob blamed the truck driver for being a Muslim and doing the business of bones and flesh ahead of Eid-ul-Adha,” he said.

“The helper and other employees were frightened after the way Jaharudding was lynched. They have informed me about the incident,” he added,

The Saran police have arrested seven suspects involved in the murder case at the Jalalpur police station. The arrests were made based on the preliminary investigation and evidence gathered.

It has been reported that the deceased person’s relatives have provided a statement, and a case has been filed against six identified individuals, along with 20 to 25 other unidentified individuals who were allegedly involved in the incident.
