A man from Buxar has been arrested for allegedly contacting a foreign intelligence agency and claiming he could compromise the security of Narendra Modi in exchange for money, police said.
The accused, Amal Kumar Tiwari, a resident of Simri locality, was taken into custody on Thursday night following a police raid.
Message Sent to Foreign Agency
According to investigators, Tiwari allegedly posted a message on the website of a United States-based intelligence agency, offering to threaten the Prime Minister’s security for monetary compensation. Police said they acted on specific inputs before carrying out the arrest.
During the search, authorities seized a laptop, mobile phones, and other digital devices. Preliminary examination revealed the presence of multiple VPNs and applications used to access the dark web, indicating attempts to conceal online activity.
Officials also recovered fake identity documents, which they suspect were being used for cyber-related offences.
During interrogation, Amal Kumar Tiwari is said to have confessed to sending the message. Police further claimed that he had earlier been linked to a case involving threats to hack the website of Kolkata airport.
Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the law, including the Information Technology Act, and are continuing their probe. Central agencies are also involved in questioning the accused, with authorities examining whether he had any accomplices or links to broader networks.
Officials have described the matter as serious, citing potential national security implications.
