In Delhi, a 23-year-old woman named Heena was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi. The accused, identified as Deepak, has been arrested after he went to the police station and confessed to the crime.
Police said the incident took place in Janta Mazdoor Colony under the jurisdiction of Welcome police station. “Around 1.30 am, the man came to the police station and informed us that he had killed his wife,” an officer said.
Victim Identified as Heena
Heena, a Muslim woman, married Deepak three years ago against the wishes of both families. The couple had reportedly eloped and were living separately.
When police reached their rented accommodation, Heena was found lying unconscious on the floor. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Her body has been sent for postmortem.
Frequent Fights and Domestic Violence Alleged
According to police, the couple often argued over routine issues. On the night of the incident, a fight broke out after Deepak returned home around midnight.
“In a fit of rage, he strangled his wife,” a police officer said.
Family members of the victim have alleged that Deepak was abusive and frequently assaulted Heena. “He used to beat her regularly and was addicted to alcohol. My daughter used to work, but he did nothing,” Heena’s mother claimed.
She also said that Heena had informed her about threats before marriage. “She told me he was pressuring her to marry him and threatened her,” the mother alleged.
Family in Shock, Demands Justice
The incident has left the victim’s family devastated. “We had no idea this would happen. We just want justice for our daughter,” a relative said.
Locals gathered at the scene as news of the murder spread, expressing shock over the brutality of the crime.
Case Registered Under BNS
Police have registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused is currently in custody, and further investigation is underway.
