Farooq Abdullah Urges Muslim Community to Stay Vigilant Against BJP’s ‘Election Tactics’

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has urged the Muslim community to remain vigilant against what he perceives as the BJP’s attempts to mislead them for votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking at a Gujjar and Bakarwal conference, Abdullah also cautioned the Gujjar community against supporting the BJP, stating, “Your existence will be wiped out if you support them.”

Abdullah expressed concern about the BJP’s tactics, saying, “Elections are approaching and only Allah knows what all they (BJP) will do to get the votes of Muslims. They are misleading Hindus by using the Ram temple. Then you (Muslims) have to decide what to do.”

The Lok Sabha elections are expected to be held in April-May this year.

Highlighting the alleged influence on Hindus, Abdullah mentioned, “Hindus, who considered us Pakistan, have been lured by them.” He emphasized the need for unity among different communities against the BJP, stating, “It is not a matter of water or road or development… but a matter of our existence. If you don’t wake up, then we cannot help it. Our existence is at stake.”

Abdullah assured the gathering not to be afraid, stating, “Nobody can kill you unless God wants it.” He promised a “healing touch” if the National Conference is voted to power in Jammu and Kashmir.

Touching upon global issues, Abdullah condemned atrocities on Palestinians and the conflict in Ukraine. He stressed the importance of maintaining peaceful relations with neighbouring countries for India’s progress, saying, “Our country has been encircled. China has reached the Maldives. It is already in Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Pray to God we don’t face such a situation. We want a developed, peaceful, and prosperous India.”
