The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh Police has apprehended Satendra Siwal, an employee at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, on charges of engaging in anti-national activities and sharing crucial confidential information with the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI.

According to an official statement, Siwal, residing in Hapur district, is accused of providing sensitive details related to the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of External Affairs, and Indian military establishments.

The ATS, acting on intelligence received from confidential sources, uncovered a scheme where ISI handlers allegedly enticed Ministry of External Affairs employees with financial incentives to gather strategic information concerning the Indian Army.

The statement emphasized the potential threat posed to India’s internal and external security.

In the course of electronic and physical surveillance, the ATS found Siwal’s involvement in anti-India activities within the ISI network.

He stands accused of exchanging vital confidential information in exchange for monetary gains, the statement added.

Siwal was summoned to the ATS field unit in Meerut, where he confessed to his involvement in the alleged espionage activities during interrogation.

An FIR has been registered against him under Section 121A of the IPC (waging war against the country) and the Official Secrets Act 1923 at the ATS police station in Lucknow.
