The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to take the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to madrassas across the state, with officials directing institutions to organise programmes focused on the national flag, patriotism and the freedom struggle.
Tricolour Hoisting and Patriotic Programmes
Minister of State for Minority Welfare, Muslim Waqf and Haj, Danish Ansari, has instructed the Principal Secretary and the Minority Welfare Department to issue necessary guidelines for organising ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programmes in madrassas.
As part of the campaign, madrassas will be encouraged to hoist the Tricolour and organise the national anthem, programmes promoting Hubbulwatani—love for the country—and awareness programmes on the contributions of prominent figures of India’s freedom struggle.
Ansari said students and young people studying in madrassas should actively participate in the campaign.
Danish Ansari Calls Campaign a Symbol of National Unity
Describing the campaign as more than just a flag-hoisting programme, Ansari said it was intended to strengthen feelings of patriotism, unity and respect for the country.
“The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign being run under the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is not only a programme but also a mass campaign to strengthen the feeling of respect, pride, unity and integrity towards the country,” he said.
He said the campaign would also help madrassa students learn about the sacrifices made by freedom fighters during India’s independence movement.
Private Madrassas Can Also Join Campaign
The government said the campaign would not be limited to government-funded madrassas. Privately run madrassas may also participate in the programme voluntarily.
According to the government, several madrassa operators have indicated their willingness to join the campaign and involve their students in the activities.
Ansari said participation in the campaign would help students develop a stronger sense of patriotism, national unity and respect for constitutional values.
Focus on Freedom Struggle and Constitutional Values
The Minister said awareness programmes would be organised to introduce madrassa students to the role and sacrifices of prominent figures who contributed to the freedom struggle.
He said the Tricolour represents the country’s pride, honour and glory, and expressed confidence that people from different sections of Uttar Pradesh would participate in the campaign.
