In Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, police arrested three Muslim women after raiding a house over allegations that beef was being cooked there. The incident took place in Panara Gopalpur village under Sarai Akil police station limits on Wednesday, June 24.
According to police, the action was taken after they received information from an informer that beef had been brought into the house and was being cooked. A police team reached the spot after verifying the tip-off.
Officials said that when the team arrived, four men allegedly fled through narrow lanes of the village, while the women present in the house were detained by female police personnel.
Seized meat sent for forensic testing
Police claim they recovered around one kilogram of cooked meat and one kilogram of raw meat from the house. The samples have been sent to a forensic laboratory for confirmation.
Kaushambi police said a case has been registered under the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. The arrested women have been identified as Shama Parveen, Shaista, and Fatima. They were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Abhishek Singh said, “We arrested the three women. During questioning, they said the meat was brought by their family members from outside.”
He added that further investigation is underway to trace the source of the meat and identify the absconding accused.
Police say men fled, investigation continues
Police also stated that the male members of the family, who allegedly brought the meat, were not present at the time of the raid and managed to escape. Teams have been formed to arrest them.
A senior officer said the investigation will focus on where the meat was purchased and whether similar incidents had occurred earlier.
Women admit cooking meat, say family brought it: police
