The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Hindu Raksha Dal has claimed that a Shiva temple exists beneath the Darul Uloom Deoband seminary in Saharanpur district and has demanded an official investigation into the matter.
The group’s state president, Lalit Sharma, along with his supporters, submitted a memorandum to the district administration on Tuesday, urging authorities to complete an inquiry within a fixed timeframe.
Group Says It Will Move Court if Probe Is Delayed
Sharma said his organisation had earlier submitted a similar memorandum, but alleged that no investigation had been completed so far.
He claimed the group possessed “evidence” supporting its assertion that a Shiva temple exists beneath the religious complex. However, he declined to make the alleged evidence public, saying it would instead be presented before a court.
According to Sharma, the administration should investigate the matter and submit its findings so that the organisation can file a public interest litigation if necessary.
Warns of Jalabhishek at Site
The Hindu Raksha Dal leader warned that if the administration failed to complete the investigation soon, Shiv devotees would travel from Haridwar carrying Ganga water and perform jalabhishek at the site, which the organisation claims is a Shiva temple.
He also alleged that the property was linked to “enemy property” issues and called for an inquiry into those claims as well.
Sharma said, “If the investigation had been completed a month ago, we would not have needed to come again.”
He added that if required, “Shiv devotees are even prepared to face bullets.”
Administration Yet to Respond
Responding to questions about the Ram Temple and allegations of irregularities in donation funds, Sharma said that the temple’s construction was the priority and that any alleged irregularities should be investigated separately.
He also said that the Deoband matter deserved similar attention from the authorities.
As of now, the Saharanpur district administration has not issued any official response regarding the claims made by the Hindu Raksha Dal.
