A 58 year old former army man and his wife were found dead inside their home in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district on Sunday. Police suspect the couple was attacked with a knife.
The victims have been identified as Shamsuddin and his wife, Saddo Begum. Their bodies were found inside their house after neighbours became suspicious when the main door remained closed for several hours.
Neighbours Find Couple Dead
The incident came to light around 9:30 am on Sunday. Neighbours, who became concerned after finding the house locked from inside, contacted the family and opened the door with their help.
They found Shamsuddin and Saddo Begum lying inside the house with severe injuries and blood around them.
Police were informed soon after, following which officers and additional personnel reached the spot. The area was secured and the crime scene was sealed for investigation.
Forensic Team Examines Crime Scene
A forensic team was called to collect evidence from the house. Police took the bodies into custody and sent them for post mortem examinations.
Officials are questioning family members and neighbours to establish what happened and identify those responsible.
Police are also examining CCTV footage from cameras installed near the house to look for possible clues about people who may have entered or left the area around the time of the incident.
Motive Yet to Be Established
The motive behind the suspected double murder remains unclear.
Police have not yet disclosed whether anything was stolen from the house or whether the couple had any known dispute with anyone.
