‘End Slavery to Yadav Clan in Red Caps’: Owaisi Targets Samajwadi Party Ahead of UP Polls

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has intensified his criticism of the Samajwadi Party (SP), urging Muslims to end what he called the “slavery of the Yadav clan in red cap” ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Speaking at a public meeting in Azamgarh, a traditional SP stronghold, Owaisi accused the party of relying on Muslim votes to win elections while failing to give the community an adequate share in political leadership.

His remarks came after the SP did not respond positively to AIMIM’s offer of an alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections, even nine days after the deadline set by Owaisi had passed.

‘We Need Our Own Leaders’

Owaisi said generations of Muslims had supported SP leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav but had not received adequate political representation in return.

“Now we do not need Gandhi or Nehru; we need our own leaders,” he said, calling on Muslims to build independent political leadership rather than depend on established parties in the hope that they would empower the community.

The AIMIM chief alleged that political parties invoked secularism to secure Muslim votes but failed to provide Muslims an adequate role in decision-making and leadership.

He also questioned what Azamgarh had gained from its long-standing support for the SP. Late Mulayam Singh Yadav represented the constituency and served as Uttar Pradesh chief minister, but Owaisi alleged that the district remained neglected.

He said Muslims in the region were developing a new political consciousness and wanted to build leadership from within their community.

Owaisi Criticises SP, Congress and BJP

During the rally, Owaisi accused both the SP and Congress of seeking Muslim support during elections without adequately sharing political power with the community. He also criticised the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and raised concerns over alleged injustices against Muslims under BJP governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Owaisi said his political opposition was not limited to the ruling BJP but also extended to opposition parties that present themselves as alternatives to it.

His remarks signal AIMIM’s effort to position itself as an independent political option for Muslims ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

AIMIM Explores Alternative Alliance

AIMIM is reportedly exploring an alliance with smaller political groups in Uttar Pradesh, including Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party and Pallavi Patel’s Apna Dal (Kamerawadi), along with other smaller outfits.

Muslim voters have historically supported both the SP and BSP, often alongside Yadav and Dalit voters, respectively. These social coalitions have played an important role in Uttar Pradesh politics for decades.
