Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge sparked a political controversy on Sunday, October 25, after saying “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” (Even Modi’s father will go) in response to a remark from the audience during an event in Patna, Bihar.

The event was organised to mark the birth anniversary of Shri Krishna Singh, Bihar’s first chief minister.

Kharge made the remark while speaking about alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. He said the Congress would send those involved in the alleged irregularities to jail.

During his address, a person in the audience shouted, “As long as there is no rebellion, Modi won’t go anywhere.”

Responding to the comment, Kharge said, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega.”

Amit Shah Accuses Congress of Political Abuse

Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised Kharge over the remark, accusing him of crossing the limits of political decorum by making what he described as an objectionable personal comment about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father.

In a post on X, Shah said repeated electoral defeats over the past 12 years had pushed the Congress into frustration and despair, leaving it with neither policies nor issues, but only the politics of abuse.

He also claimed that the party was losing public support and its standing among its own workers.

BJP Leaders Condemn Kharge’s Remarks

BJP president Nitin Nabin also criticised Kharge, calling his language indecent and unparliamentary.

He said people were closely watching what he described as indecent politics and would respond at the appropriate time.

Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi described Kharge’s remarks as unfortunate and said they reflected the Congress’s frustration and lack of political decorum.

Saraogi also accused the Congress of repeatedly targeting Modi and his family, alleging that Kharge was following a political script set by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
