Yoga guru Ramdev on Monday claimed that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s participation in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections could benefit Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by splitting votes among certain sections of the electorate.
Speaking to reporters after attending the provincial Arya Mahasammelan in Babrala, Sambhal district, Ramdev was asked about Owaisi’s recent remark that even if Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav did not return to power, “Abdul’s government” would be formed.
“Owaisi may or may not be good for other places, but he is very good for Uttar Pradesh because the splitting of votes among certain sections will greatly benefit Yogi ji,” Ramdev said.
His remarks come as political parties begin preparing for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, with Owaisi offering to join hands with opposition parties to prevent the BJP from returning to power in the state.
Owaisi Targets BJP, Akhilesh Yadav
Owaisi has said his party does not want to see Adityanath become chief minister for a third consecutive term.
Addressing a rally in Shamli’s Kairana on October 25, the AIMIM chief reiterated his opposition to the BJP government.
At a rally in Rampur last week, Owaisi also targeted the Samajwadi Party and Akhilesh Yadav, saying that Muslim legislators and MPs would emerge from the community and raise their voices against injustice.
His remarks about an “Abdul’s government” have triggered political reactions, including Ramdev’s claim that Owaisi’s electoral presence could work in the BJP’s favour.
Ramdev Reacts to Kharge’s Remarks Against Modi
Ramdev also criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying politicians should avoid making inappropriate statements regardless of their political affiliations.
“Nobody should make such low-level remarks, whether they belong to the ruling party or the opposition,” he said, according to reports.
Asked whether he wanted Adityanath to become chief minister for a third time, Ramdev said he wanted the country to be governed by good people.
Ramdev Comments on Sanatan Dharma
Speaking about Sanatan Dharma, Ramdev alleged that hypocrisy, superstition and religious pretence were damaging its image.
He accused some people of misusing the names of religious figures, scriptures and pilgrimage sites to defame religion.
Ramdev also invoked the teachings of Maharishi Dayanand and the Arya Samaj, emphasising the worship of one God, social equality, respect for elders and opposition to caste based discrimination.
