Police in Kerala’s Kannur district have arrested a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker for allegedly posting communal and sexually abusive comments targeting a minor girl on Facebook.
The accused, Vimal Shivashakthi, a resident of Azhiyur, was arrested by Muzhakkunnu police and subsequently remanded to judicial custody for two weeks, according to Young Democrats leader Younus Vilakkode.
The comments were allegedly posted beneath a photograph of the girl celebrating her achievement in a national-level abacus competition.
The photograph had been shared on Facebook as part of an event organised by the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) to felicitate the girl for her performance.
Vilakkode, the joint secretary of the SDPI-led panchayat, said he and the girl’s father had filed complaints over the alleged comments.

The accused was later produced before a court, which remanded him to custody for two weeks.
