On Tuesday, a man collecting donations for a mosque was reportedly attacked by an individual in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in Salarpur village, under the jurisdiction of Sector 39 police station, around 12:20 pm.
Upon receiving the information, local authorities rushed to the scene to calm the situation. Abdul Aziz, hailing from Bihar’s Kishanganj, was identified as the victim of the assault, allegedly carried out by a local resident named Neeraj Bhatti.
Providing details, DCP (Noida) Vidya Sagar Mishra stated, “A 35-year-old man, who had come to Salarpur from Bihar to collect donations, was assaulted by a 45-year-old local resident in the afternoon. The accused also made objectionable remarks towards the victim.”
The police responded to the victim’s complaint, taking the accused into custody. Mishra said, “On the basis of a complaint from the victim, the accused has been taken into custody and an FIR being lodged in the case. Further inquiry into the case is underway.”
Eyewitnesses reported that the accused, under the influence of alcohol, grabbed the victim by his beard. This prompted bystanders to intervene, with some alerting the authorities.
To address the escalating situation, DCP Mishra, along with Additional DCP Manish Mishra and ACP-1 Praveen Singh, arrived at the scene. They worked to control the situation and disperse the crowd, as video clips of the incident surfaced on social media.
Authorities have assured that legal proceedings in the case are ongoing.
