Opposition Should Unite Against Hate And Violence: Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind

arshad madani

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a prominent Muslim organization, has expressed strong support for Rahul Gandhi’s recent speech as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. They praised Gandhi for his “fearless stance against violence, hatred, and injustice in Parliament”.

Jamiat president Maulana Arshad Madani said that no religion condones violence or hatred. He stated, “Religion gives the message of humanity, tolerance, love, and unity. Those who spread hatred and violence cannot truly follow their religion.”

Madani condemned mob lynching as a cruel form of violence and criticized the lack of effective measures to stop it despite Supreme Court directives. He highlighted recent incidents in Odisha and Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, as examples.

Expressing satisfaction with Gandhi’s speech, Madani urged other opposition leaders to similarly speak out against violence and injustice in Parliament. He noted that the recent election results reflected a rejection of sectarianism and hatred, urging parties like Congress to protect democracy and fight for voter rights.

During the elections, Madani praised leaders of the INDIA alliance, including Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav, for upholding secularism. He emphasized their appeal to voters with secular ideals.

In response to criticism from the ruling party following Gandhi’s speech, Madani defended Gandhi’s remarks, stating that they targeted the BJP leadership, not the Hindu community as a whole.
